Crown braids are one of those everyday styles that happens to be incredibly simple yet so gorgeous! It serves as a protective style that can be done in no time and can be achieved on a wide range of hair lengths (if you have at least 4 to 5 inches of hair you are good to go).

When doing this style you are going to want to make sure you are working with hair that is detangled well and stretched some so you can have some fullness. Moisturize well, section your hair into two parts (you can angle the part or go straight down the middle) and then begin!

Here is a round up of video tutorials of naturals with different textures and lengths that will show you how easy achieving this style can be. Even if you are not an experienced braider after a couple of tries you pick up the hang of it.

In an addition to a good moisturizer, consider opting for a good edge control product like ORS edge control for a more sleek molded look. The goal is to have that hair laid!

Maintain your style throughout the week by making sure your wrap your hair at night and moisturize as needed. Once you master this style it can become one of your go to’s when you need a style to save the day or you just need a low key option to get you through the week.

  1. Thank you for sharing your journey thank you for creating this site. I will be 62 in August I’d been relaxing my hair since age 18 so at 68 when I decided relaxing my hair was no longer an option I choose I had no idea what to do with my hair which at the time was also cropped very short on the top and faded. Once I started growing it out I realized not only do I not know how to take care of my natural hair I do not know how to style it, then I found Black naps. Thank you. My hair is now long healthy and I have many hair styles I have learned to make.
